The ‘Freeze’ Drill.

Picture for a moment a well organized, focused Karate class.

Students are taught that, when in position, they don’t move.  If their nose itches, they try (as best they can) to resist the urge to scratch it.

Sometimes the teachers refer to this as the ‘Freeze’ Drill.

Learning to be a self-disciplined person starts with simple exercises like this.

A person who can control basic physical impulses (even if the nose REALLY itches!) will eventually learn to effectively control their habits and behaviors.

The ‘Freeze’ drill is easy to practice at home.  Make it a game with your kids.  How long can they (and maybe you, too!) stay ‘frozen?’

Ten seconds, twenty, thirty, a minute… Watch as this drill continues to develop the lessons of unshakeable self-discipline that began in Karate class.
