Thinking about a close friend who died a year ago this month. B. was a wonderful artist. Pencils. Watercolors. Other stuff, too. Had a house full of things he’d done, and he’d given away a lot, too.
Never sold anything that I know of. Not sure if that would have been important to B. or not. I suspect it would have, though.
Anyway, it got me thinking about giftings — and what happens to them once they make themselves known. B. was clearly gifted. But I’ve been wondering what would have become of that gift if it would have been combined with two hours a day of steady, focused effort.
Crafting his skill. Learning the business side of his art. Developing contacts. Building a customer base. Training with more experienced artisans.
Think of the less gifted artist who was willing to put in the two (or more) hours per day…
Probably enjoying a bunch of success…
